Who is Hannah Barry

The Hannah Barry Memorial Award is named after a talented actor and artist who was a student of the former School of Creative Arts at The University of Melbourne. Hannah died in June 2002.

Award Overview

The Hannah Barry Memorial Award is a single award that is open to all current undergraduate University of Melbourne students, including those in the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music. The award will assist the recipient in the development of a creative work in the performing arts.

The applicant’s creative work must be based in the performing arts, typically defined as a time-based art form, that features a live presentation to an audience, or onlookers, the award is open to any one or more of the performing arts. The Award will be awarded on artistic merit. 

  • A Prize or Award can be considered normal income. The University is not required to withhold income tax, but you may be required to declare the payment; you can find out more via the ATO Prize and Award website.
